MM6 Maison Margiela Spring - Summer 2024

MM6 Maison Margiela Spring - Summer 2024 collection is based on abstractionism and the dichotomy of black and white. The result is radical simplicity and straightforwardness in the Spring - Summer 2024 collection. Beginning from the show notes that state, "The ever-increasing number of summer heatwaves sets the tone for the whole show," not every brand did care to point out this, we know it is happening so let us be open about this fact. Even if all the brands don't say it, we see an adaptation to the heat, particularly for the spring-summer collections.

The SS24 collection highlights the signature style of the brand and its ability to enhance the body language through the way pockets are placed to interpretations of staples such as the butcher apron and the lab coat. Ribbons, slits, full side openings and ties, are cleverly incorporated throughout the collection, with particular attention on the length and width. The length of the vests is exaggerated and even so in lengthened tailored jackets and trousers, often wrapped around the body to enhance movement or abstract impression of the body language.

Some of great examples are plunging V necklines, tall sleeveless coats falling straight, and sleeve-deprived shirts all emitting the brand's signature style and a nod to the 90s. This is further emphasised with low placed pockets, on both gilets and trousers with an extended crotch. Denim, robust canvas and pragmatic polycotton nod at the realm of work, where the hand is focal. T-shirts with six patch pockets suggest a number of manual actions, as do the slip dresses cut like one-shouldered aprons, their singular shape being a result of function, in this case the need to free one shoulder during work.

Meta is a favorite #MM6 way to turn straightforwardness into abstraction. Hence the word allongé printed on the allongé t-shirt, or mat, satiné, brillant carved onto mat, satiné and brilliant cuffs and pieces of jewelry. Stamps become jewelry too, and so do keys, as earrings. Accessories further riff on the idea of making: round toe boots and mary janes shaped after kitchen safety shoes, anatomic toe clogs, and a new iteration of the Salomon mary janes. Elongated paper bags and handbags that double as vests entice other gestures.

Pack nicotine alternatives

Smoking cessation isn’t a one-and-done thing; being out with friends—especially smokers—might exacerbate your cravings. Instead of giving in and asking for a smoke, tobacco-free alternatives can help tamp down those urges. Nicotine pouches are a great product for a night out. Most nicotine pouches come in cans, which allow users to experience nicotine satisfaction on the go. Another great option is nicotine patches, which have been around for decades as a quitting aid. Brands like Habitrol nicotine patches come with two or three-step programs over eight or twelve weeks, gradually lowering the nicotine dose after some time. all images ©
