During an evening of glitz, glamour, and hot buzz surrounding who would be next to succeed legends Lionel Messi and Megan Rapinoe, France Football awarded Lionel Messi (Paris St-Germain) & Alexia Putellas (Barcelona) the Ballon d’OrTM trophies in their respective male and female categories for the institution’s 65th edition (Messi’s seventh time winning, and Putellas’ first).
For the first time in the prestigious award’s history since its foundation in 1956, France Football partnered with Swiss watchmaking brand Purnell, and awarded Messi and Putellas each a unique piece: the Purnell Escape Ballon d’OrTM.
