"ICARO" Spring - Summer 2024 Collection takes us on a mythological journey in ancient Greece.
In the creative universe of Marios Schwab, Zeus+Dione’s S/S’24 Collection stands tall as an homage to the storied ICARO ceramics of Rhodes island. A compelling tale told in two resounding drops, expertly braiding the strands of heritage and postmodernism.
In the first drop, the collection plunges headlong into the kaleidoscopic world of ICARO ceramics—a place where each brushstroke carries the weight of history, where heavenly colours and motifs unfurl across ceramic canvases. Here, tulips, pomegranates, cypresses, and carnations bloom alongside depictions of maritime vessels and graceful creatures. These timeless patterns, borrowed from the iconic “Natura” motifs, form a profound connection to our heritage through a new visual vocabulary. The colour palette detonates with bold strokes of copper, brick red, Mediterranean blue, turquoise and green—a nod to ICARO’s regal shades.
The signature spathoto silk, is interwoven with similar colours, alongside the ever-classic black and white. Textures awaken as natural linen, cotton voile, printed canvas and pleated crepe become the backdrop for expression. Metallic copper and eco-leather micro-pleating, jersey as a “second-skin” and fishing-nets ensnared in French chiffon all echo the pulse of the new-age spirit. The standout touch? Aris Tzonevrakis’ intricate carnation embroideries, gracing the bodice— a testament to artisanal devotion and craftsmanship.
