  • New Breguet timepieces REINE DE NAPLES

Two aesthetic interpretations with powerful characters Breguet turns the spotlight on two new timepieces showcasing two styles but with one thing in common: the minutes hand that adopts a variety of shapes in the course of its path around the dial. Exactly what it takes to lend an additional touch of character to this iconic collection. Mysterious elegance Its white gold case elegantly contrasts with its midnight blue mother-of-pearl dial, whose subtle hues vary as the light plays over it. Its flange, bezel and lugs are set with 161 diamonds. Its crown bears a briolette-cut diamond, while its folding clasp is adorned with 28 diamonds. Time is cleverly indicated by an aperture in the dial centre. The powdered silver-toned minutes numerals, featuring a font reminiscent of hand-drawn designs, are subtly offset. This version is available with an alligator leather strap matching the dial colour of this timepiece issued in a 20-piece limited edition. A play on proportions Its white lacquered dial makes a striking contrast with its midnight blue alligator strap. Its white gold case features a bezel, flange and crown set with blue sapphires. The various dial elements of this watch seem to be dancing, notably the offset Arabic numerals that appear to stretch and shorten alternately, as does the path of the minutes hand.

  • The Pininfarina Battista, the World’s Fastest Accelerating Car is All-Electric

The Pininfarina Battista is all- electric and can accelerate ‘faster than a Formula One car’ The supercar Pininfarina Battista is a hypercar that has just set some new world records. The car set this new record at the Dubai Autodrome. The Pininfarina Battista goes from 0-60mph in exactly just 1.79 seconds, making it the world’s fastest-accelerating street-legal car. Even if run by Rimac battery system you could call this car “an Italian hypercar.” To own one, you have to have money seriously. Only 150 units of this car were planned, and the starting price of the car is $2.25 million. Also, deliveries of the car have started. About The Dubai Autodrome The Dubai Autodrome is an FIA-sanctioned racetrack located in the United Arab Emirates. This 3,349-mile, 17-turn circuit first opened in 2004 and is currently home to several; TCR and GT races. A fun fact about the Dubai Autodrome is that it meets all the requirements to host a Formula 1 race. It never hosted an F1 race until now because there’s one in Abu Dhabi. The performance of the Battista was due to its highly sophisticated launch control system, it made it possible for the Pininfarina Battista to beat the previous record by nearly a tenth of a second. By now, you’re likely familiar with the Pininfarina Battista – a hyper-exclusive hypercar, wearing the moniker of a famous Italian coachbuilder, powered by a 1,874bhp EV drivetrain from the Croatian wonderkid at Rimac, pricey as a pair of houses and flirting with the limits of be-all, end-all pace. And if you weren’t familiar, then congratulations – you’re pretty much up to speed, metaphorically speaking. But to speak a little more literally, you’re absolutely not. We’ll explain. Unless you’ve driven a Battista – or unless you are a fighter pilot or are genuinely Wile E. Coyote – you do not know what the transition from standstill to speed (and indeed back to standstill again) actually feels like.

  • A new milestone for traceable gems

A new milestone for traceable gems – Provenance Proof Marketplace makes access to transparently traded gems easier and more convenient The innovative start-up Provenance Proof has launched the first online marketplace for traceable gems. A first in the industry, it allows buyers and sellers to connect directly. Provenance Proof Marketplace gives all players in the gem industry access to global trade to offer and buy transparently traded gems. Provenance Proof Marketplace Increasingly, end consumers and jewellery brands are demanding sustainability and transparency in sourcing and manufacturing of raw gem materials used in finished pieces of jewellery. In parallel, transparently traded gems are growing in demand. The search for the right gem to complete a jewellery piece can prove challenging, let alone the search for transparently traded or responsibly sourced gems. To make access to traceable gems easier and more convenient Provenance Proof, with platform partner Everledger, has launched, an online marketplace to offer its blockchain users the opportunity to connect directly with each other to offer or search for transparently traded gems. Both sellers and buyers can benefit significantly from Provenance Proof Marketplace. For example, jewellers can conveniently search for transparently traded gemstones or pearls and directly contact the seller on the Provenance Proof platform, right at their fingertips. In addition, the marketplace offers traders in the gem industry a tool to expand their market reach globally by simply listing gems from their Provenance Proof inventory on the online marketplace. Meanwhile, prospective buyers can facilitate their hunt for the perfect transparently traded gem through easy to use search filters. Klemens Link, Director of Provenance Proof Klemens Link, Director of Provenance Proof, explains: “We believe that provable transparency enables trust, sustainability and fairness in our industry. To make it easier for stakeholders to offer or search for matching traceable gems, we launched the Provenance Proof Marketplace, the first online marketplace for fully traceable gemstones powered by blockchain technology.” Raphael Gübelin, President of the House of Gübelin Mr. Gübelin, expounds: “The Provenance Proof Marketplace is a further milestone, allowing more transparency in the jewellery and gemstone industry. The online marketplace simplifies both access as well as sales of transparently traded gemstones.” Thanks to this pioneering achievement, access to gemstones with a traceable value chain will be highly facilitated. This innovation will benefit gemstone traders, jewellery brands, jewellers as well as customers who wish to procure transparently traded gemstones and find it important to know about the origin of the gemstones. Provenance Proof makes the online marketplace available for the trade, but is not itself involved in the sales or purchase, and neither does it profit from any of the proceeds. Everledger CEO Leanne Kemp added: “By making it easier for retailers and consumers to access and trade sustainably sourced gemstones and pearls, Provenance Proof continues to shine a light on the importance of fair work practices and environmental responsibility across the industry. Everledger is proud to contribute to such a worthwhile initiative.” One of the Provenance Proof Marketplace users is Pearls of Australia. James Brown, Managing Director, says: “We needed a way to make the value of pearls more visible and enduring beyond the dialogue we have with customers at a single point of time. We see the marketplace as a great opportunity to engage with brands and retailers at a deeper level and share what makes each pearl unique, from ocean to jewellery.” Provenance Proof Blockchain The online marketplace is a new feature of the Provenance Proof Blockchain. With the marketplace, Provenance Proof extends the possibilities offered by the world’s first blockchain for gems. To date, around four million gems and jewellery items have been uploaded to the blockchain and over 500 professional users have joined, including more than 120 jewellers and manufacturers. The Provenance Proof Blockchain is a digital logbook that cannot be subsequently modified, and records relevant gem data along the supply chain from one stakeholder to the next. The secure and user-friendly platform carefully balances interests in transparency and data protection. Only the current owner gains visibility into the upstream supply chain data of a particular gem. Users can create a digital twin that can be passed on along with the physical asset through the supply chain. Key stakeholders along the supply chain of a gem are allowed to transparently add their stories and information to the digital twin. Moreover, the immutability of the data entered thanks to blockchain technology also enables these stories and information to be recorded in a highly credible manner. Ultimately a comprehensive digital twin is created that that enables an end consumer to visualise the entire journey of a gem from rough to the finished product. All industry stakeholders can sign up to access the blockchain platform free of charge and use the platform to manage their supply chain transparently while benefiting from the marketing potential it enables.

  • Breitling and SWISS Join Forces to Promote Sustainable Flying

In a landmark new partnership, Breitling will purchase sustainable aviation fuel for all its SWISS flights, with the goal of achieving CO2 neutrality on air travel. SWISS International Air Lines and watchmaker Breitling have entered into a first-of-its-kind partnership in Switzerland. Breitling will purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for all its business-related flights operated by SWISS, beginning retroactively for the entire 2022 calendar year. With the purchase of the respective amount of SAF, Breitling will reduce its flight-related CO2 emissions by 80%. Breitling will achieve carbon neutrality on its air travel by offsetting the remaining CO2 emissions through investments in high-quality carbon offsets. “For us, sustainability is not a project, it’s a journey we’re on to transform our business,” says Georges Kern, CEO at Breitling. “Achieving CO2 neutrality on our work-related SWISS flights is an important way for us to reduce our emissions and, through the purchase of SAF, make a small contribution to the sustainability transition of the aviation industry, which we’ve been closely linked to since the 1930s.” SAF is a jet fuel of non-fossil origin that closes the carbon cycle. The SAF currently used by SWISS is produced from biogenic waste, such as used cooking oils, and results in 80% fewer CO2 emissions than the fossil fuel alternative. Synthetic fuels available in the future will be virtually CO2-neutral. SAF is of paramount importance for the decarbonization of aviation. At present, however, SAF is only available in small quantities, which is why the rapid ramp-up of production is crucial. Breitling is the official onboard timekeeper to SWISS, which, in 2021, became the first commercial airline to fly from Switzerland using SAF and is taking targeted actions to foster the further development of SAF and make it more broadly available. The operator is also investing billions to purchase energy-efficient aircraft that reduce carbon emissions by 25% over their predecessors and continuously optimizing its flight operations. In this way, Breitling’s partnership with SWISS is not only reducing the watchmaker’s carbon footprint, but also contributing to the future of sustainable air travel. Dieter Vranckx, CEO at SWISS, says, “With its commitment to SAF, Breitling is playing an exemplary pioneering role here. Collaborations like this are tangibly accelerating the production of sustainable aviation fuels and driving the transition towards CO2-neutral flying.” Concrete Actions to Achieve Sustainability Goals Action by action, Breitling is working to improve its materials and processes, and is building sustainability into every aspect of its business. Some of those efforts include: - Salesforce Net Zero: To generate the precise calculations that enable Breitling to achieve carbon neutrality across all measured emissions, the watchmaker is implementing Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud, a carbon accounting solution that helps companies track their carbon footprint. This cloud-based sustainability solution provides “what if” analysis to help predict where emissions come from and where to reduce them, so Breitling can accelerate its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative. - Sustainable packaging: Breitling created an eco-friendly, foldable, and reusable watch box—an industry first. Made from 100% upcycled plastic bottles, the packaging received the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for products that address environmental challenges without compromising economic growth. This move works alongside Breitling’s goal of eliminating plastic waste across the brand by 2025. - Outerknown ECONYL® yarn straps: Breitling has partnered with Outerknown, the sustainable clothing brand co-founded by world surf champion Kelly Slater, to develop a line of watch straps made of ECONYL® yarn. This resilient material is made of upcycled ghost fishing nets and other nylon waste extracted from the world’s oceans. - SUGi: This nonprofit organization reforests urban environments to reestablish natural biodiversity. Since partnering with SUGi in 2020, Breitling has planted 17,600 trees, restoring approximately 264 native plant species on 14,400 m2 across nine forests in seven countries. - Ocean Conservancy: Plastic pollution in the ocean is omnipresent. With Ocean Conservancy, Breitling plays an active role in cleanup activities that contribute to healthier, trash-free seas. - Carbon neutrality: Breitling is working towards achieving retroactive carbon neutrality on all its measured emissions going back to April 1, 2021. The brand’s efforts to date have offset a total of 4,711 tons of CO2e emissions.* *CO2e refers to carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

  • By 2025, Breitling will feature better gold and better diamonds across its entire product portfolio

Breitling is on a mission to create beautiful products and experiences with better materials and better manufacturing. The first proof of this commitment is the Super Chronomat Origins. By 2025, Breitling’s entire product portfolio will feature better gold and better diamonds: artisanal gold and lab-grown diamonds, responsibly sourced from accredited suppliers. To be fully accountable to its mission, Breitling is also introducing end-to-end traceability. Until now, there have been limits on how far you could trace precious materials. Even when following industry best practices, tracking gold and the small “melee” diamonds used in watchmaking to their origins had been nearly impossible. By default, these raw materials tend to be combined from many different sources – meaning their provenance literally gets lost in the mix. Breitling wanted to do better. The better gold and better diamonds used in Super Chronomat Origins enable the brand to know that its precious materials are free from association with conflict or human rights abuses. The watchmaking house is also able to assess the social and environmental impact all along the supply chain. The entire chain of custody has been independently verified and recorded in a blockchain-backed NFT that comes with every Super Chronomat Origins. For Super Chronomat Origins, Breitling has sourced gold from a single artisanal mine that meets the Swiss Better Gold Association’s criteria. The association improves working, living and environmental conditions in artisanal and small-scale (ASM) gold mining communities and facilitates the creation of responsible supply chains to the Swiss market. Breitling is working toward having all of its gold traceable to specific ASM mines by 2025. For every gramme of gold purchased, Breitling makes a contribution that supports local community development projects. Communities in turn benefit from infrastructure investment, legal wages, healthy working conditions, protection of biodiversity and, at the close of mining activities, land rehabilitation. The lab-grown diamonds used in Super Chronomat Origins feature type IIa single-crystal diamonds, which qualify as the most valued and purest type of diamonds. They are created by applying gas and heat to a diamond slice in a vacuum. Under the heat, the gas develops into a cloud of plasma, creating the conditions that allow the diamond to crystallise and grow. Lab-grown diamonds are identical to mined diamonds and subject to the same rigorous quality testing. By 2024, Breitling will have completed a transition to lab-grown diamonds across its entire product portfolio, all of them traceable to growers who meet a high standard of social and environmental performance in addition to a stringent requirement of climate neutrality. For every carat purchased, Breitling makes a contribution to a social impact fund that supports diamond-producing communities. Super Chronomat Origins owners receive a precious materials’ provenance record as part of their blockchain-backed NFT. Since 2020, every new Breitling timepiece has come with this unique digital proof of ownership. The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 Origins stands out from the rest of the Chronomat family by the ceramic rider tabs and crown as well as the rubber rouleaux (roller) bracelet only available with this supercharged line. But aside from its enhanced presence, this new watch has another important statement to make. It is the beginning of Breitling’s mission to do better. Touchstone mine Columbia

This watch is a hyper complication, an ephemeris intimately linked to its wearer. Rémi Maillat is a watchmaking engineer, who with the tip of his pencil, he transforms undreamt of concepts into watchmaking intricacies. His creation, Anywhere, indicates the length of the day and the time at which the sun rises and sets, whilst displaying the ephemeris at a point on the globe chosen personally by the wearer of the watch, placing him or her at the centre of a universal and intimate horology. This emotional dimension of time and space, at the nexus of a most personal sense of place and concrete geography, is what drives Krayon. This interpretation of time takes the form of a watch that goes beyond convention and habit. It is like every dawn and every dusk, never the same as the last or the next, always experienced in a personal way. The latest addition to a Krayon’s family of unusual hyper complications, the new Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur watch creation, with its 432 components, is an ideal of serenity and technical sophistication. It continues in the spirit of the Anywhere Edition Only Watch 2021, its exceptional dial combining technical prowess with contemporary artistic inspiration. A tribute to the métiers d’art, the family of crafts that are akin to forms of art, the visual language of Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur whispers discovery and beckons to embark an inner journey. The choice of a multitude of blues amplifies the purpose of this Anywhere watch, like an invitation to contemplation, before sunrise. That magical moment when nature, in suspension, awaits the light. To achieve this effect, a myriad small alveoli have been hollowed out into which a Swiss enamelling artist has patiently deposited, by hand, each dab of lacquer until the desired spectrum of blue hues is obtained, producing an outcome of unparalleled finesse. Rare and precious, platinum enthrals with its silvery-white appearance; its brightness responds particularly well to shades of blue. It is not only one of the world’s heaviest and densest materials but is also distinguished by unique physical and chemical properties, such as its exceptional resistance to corrosion. Paradoxically, it is also soft, elastic and extremely malleable. Machining and polishing platinum is therefore particularly challenging and requires a high level of expertise. Krayon uses only 950 platinum, an alloy composed of 950 ‰ (per thousand) of platinum meticulously crafted in Switzerland. For an exceptional watch, only the noblest of precious metals. Rarity, elevated. Watch and watchmaking connoisseurs consider timepieces with date functions or astronomical indications to be masterpieces of mechanical engineering, not only because of their level of complexity but also because these calendar displays trace back directly to astronomical observations made by the earliest civilisations eons ago. For those who grasp the full scale of the achievement, a date watch becomes a connection to the cosmos, a link that is all the richer with symbolism because it is founded on the bedrock of horological science. The calendar is a mechanical solution to an astronomical problem. From ancient Egypt to Rome via the Greece of Antiquity, from astronomers to mathematicians, including clergymen, the history of the calendar has mainly revolved around the question of fitting the lunar and solar calendars into a scheme of whole numbers. Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur indicates hours and minutes by means of two hands, placed in the centre of a dial that seems suspended in the centre of the watch. It is surrounded by an annular zone on which circulates, in perpetual movement, a small sun that indicates the time over 24 hours. The ring-shaped display is divided in two: a diurnal sector (sky blue) and a nocturnal sector (midnight blue), whose respective lengths are in constant flux, indicating by their positions the sunrise and sunset times that can be read on the rehaut. To integrate this geographical factor, Krayon devised a mechanical positioning system, using rakes and rockers instead of a fixed cam. The relative position of the two sapphire discs is determined not only by the reference position, but also by the calendar. To this end, Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur indicates the date and month on a subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. This is a double calendar, for which all months last 31 days. It therefore requires only five annual adjustments, easily and quickly effected via the crown in both directions. Whilst these sources of inspiration are anchored in the past, Rémi Maillat has reinterpreted them, even transcended them with his contemporary vision. Krayon Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur is equipped with the Calibre C030, meticulously designed, developed and entirely assembled in Neuchatel, Switzerland, by Rémi Maillat, Krayon's founder and master watchmaker. This calibre is in the direct lineage of that created for the one-off Anywhere specifically made for the Only Watch 2021 charity auction. With its apparent simplicity, its width, its thinness in relation to its complexity (only 5 mm), and its manual winding mechanism, Anywhere’s technical sophistication (432 components, 86 hours of power reserve) leaves its mark on the beholder, surprising them with its ability to define a geographical and temporal space tailored to the wearer. According to a principle dear to Rémi Maillat, the purchaser will be able to set the watch to the city or location of his or her choice for the indication of sunrise and sunset. A watchmaking designer-engineer and the founder of Krayon, Rémi Maillat also has a precious talent: the ability to turn mathematical calculations into fantastic watchmaking creations; with the selfevidence that comes with simplicity. Whether he is working on commissions for renowned clients or giving substance to his own imagination, this gifted engineer is a true master of the technical complexities of the art of watchmaking. For him, a successful concept begins as a sketch from the tip of his pencil; hence Krayon, as in crayon, the French word for pencil. After unveiling his first Everywhere creation in June 2017, Rémi Maillat presented a bespoke timepiece in 2018, Everywhere Horizon, which was awarded the Best Watchmaking Innovation Prize by the Jury of the 2018 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. In 2020, Rémi Maillat presented Anywhere, true to the concept of the art of the singular measurement of time. A marvellous synthesis of mathematics, artistic watchmaking, poetry in details and a genuine philosophical dimension. In 2021, Krayon participated for the first time in the Only Watch charity auction; his first Anywhere Métiers d'Art watch, a one-off created for the charity event, with a magnificent sunset by Claude Monet sold for four times its estimate. In 2022, the Krayon brand returns with this new opus, Anywhere Métiers d'Art Azur. With its multitude of blues, the watch is an invitation to escape, to discover and to dream. It is up to each and every one of us to let our emotions inspire us. Only 15 pieces will be produced and offered for sale.
