  • Red Sea Global and AMAALA to debuts independent luxury hotel brand

Red Sea Global (RSG), the multi-project developer behind the world's most ambitious regenerative tourism destinations, The Red Sea and AMAALA, has announced it will operate its own luxury hotel brand at The Red Sea destination, named Shebara. stc group and Red Sea Global announced a strategic partnership to drive the digital success of RSG destinations Offering latest communication technologies at tourist sites on Red Sea coast. Shebara, the first luxury hotel brand at #TheRedSea destination that will be owned and operated solely by Red Sea Global. Opening in summer 2024. Shebara is the company’s second hotel brand announced in the last month. Revealed today at the World Travel Market in London, Shebara will open in summer 2024 and is the first resort to be owned and operated by RSG at The Red Sea destination. Located on Sheybarah Island in the thriving Al Wajh Lagoon, the resort is home to iconic stainless steel orbs, and is now actively recruiting a world-class operational team ahead of opening. “It has long been our mission to extend our pioneering approach to regenerative tourism across a wider portfolio of brands and subsidiary companies, to create an ecosystem that will drive meaningful change in the global tourism industry. Shebara is a beacon for all that RSG stands for, showcasing the very best in Saudi hospitality while setting new standards in responsible development and sustainable operations,” John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG. Shebara joins an impressive roster of internationally renowned hospitality brands operating at The Red Sea destination, including St. Regis and Ritz Carlton Reserve, as well as Six Senses, which is receiving guests as of this month. The Shebara reveal follows an announcement last month that RSG is also developing Thuwal Private Retreat, an exclusive, island destination that will also be wholly owned and operated by RSG. Shebara is located on Sheybarah Island, which features a spectacular 30 to 40-meter reef drop-off close to the beach providing the ultimate spot for exploring ocean life. The resort contains 73 keys, including overwater and beach villas and guests arrive either by a 45-minute boat ride from the mainland or 20 minutes by seaplane. The southern approach reveals the first stainless steel villas on the horizon, representing a string of pearls, with a stunning reception building at the center, forming the ‘pendant’. This incredible arrival point was carefully positioned within a natural break in the coral reef, providing a dramatic seascape whether arriving by sea or seaplane, while demonstrative of a broader commitment to sustainability. There is both a family pool, and an adult-only pool, which includes ‘lily pad’ seating terraces with panoramic views of the breathtaking sunset. Guests can choose from two specialty restaurants, and the resort also includes a spa and fitness center nestled among the island’s sand dunes. Additionally, the furthermost island is available to book exclusively, with a dedicated jetty for private yacht mooring. The island includes a four-bedroom villa, plus three one-bedroom villas, as well as a private beach and barbeque area. Developed by Killa Design, the entire design of the resort centers around reflections of nature. Each space has been designed to flow with its environment, with the stainless steel villas reflecting the colours and surface patterns of the ocean and the intense colors of the sky as they change throughout the day. The overwater orbs are cantilevered over the water, which creates an effect of a string of pearls levitating above the water. Shaun Killa, Design Director and Founder of Killa Design, said: “Shebara is a wonderful example of what is possible when creating beautiful yet meaningful design. It demonstrates how innovative architecture can gracefully flow into nature, with pods that reflect and refract light from the sun, the sky and the sea to naturally blend with the environment. From the eco-materials chosen to the lunar positioning of the villas, our priority has been to honor the natural beauty that exists here, while creating a resort that embodies modern luxury.” Development of Shebara is happening at pace, with all 38 stainless steel overwater villas now in place. While the first overwater villa took nine hours to install, the developer perfected this process so that the last villa was in place in under two hours. So far 25 of the beach villas have been installed, and substantial progress has been made on the other front and back of house structures and infrastructure. As with the whole of The Red Sea, Shebara will be powered by sunlight, day and night with its own dedicated solar farm, which includes more than 11,000 PV panels. In total, RSG has constructed five solar farms to power the first phase of the destination, with more than 760,000 PV panels installed. The launch of Saudi Arabia’s latest hotel brand comes at a time when tourism in the Kingdom is experiencing remarkable growth. Tourism's share of GDP has already shot from a modest 3% in 2019 to an impressive 7% since the launch of Vision 2030. The original target of hosting 100 million visitors a year by 2030 has been increased to 150 million because of the remarkable progress already made by developers such as RSG. Last month The Red Sea welcomed its first guests. Two of its hotels are open for bookings and the Red Sea International Airport has been receiving a regular schedule of flights since September. Upon full completion in 2030, the destination will comprise 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also include luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, F&B, and leisure facilities. • 39th Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz 2024

Majestic mountains of Engadin in South-East Switzerland set the background to the noble polo sport. Swiss precision and world-class performance This annual event is a highlight on both the St. Moritz and Swiss calendars, and its 38th edition was completely sold out earlier this year, with VIP and Chukka Club tickets all sold out and resort hotels reporting record bookings. But don't forget that the event is free and open to the public in the historic venue's public spaces. The event takes months of planning, and it shows as everything runs with Swiss precision and efficiency, with 120 horses arriving from all over Europe, securely stabled in fully heated luxury, and 2'600 spectators. Three months before the start of the 39th Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, the management of the world’s only ‘high goal’ tournament on snow proudly presents two new sponsors: the on-trend Canadian luxury outerwear brand Mackage makes its debut, while Champagne Perrier-Jouët joins them as a second partner. These two new partners complement the existing team sponsors’ line-up of Flexjet, The Kusnacht Practice, World Polo League and St. Moritz. Another highlight is the special appearance of “Pelon” Stirling, who has made a significant mark on the last decade of polo and will undoubtedly provide spectacular action on the ice of Lake St. Moritz. The gastronomy in the popular Polo Village will even more extraordinary and the VIP tent is set for a super-luxury upgrade, not only structurally, but also with the food and drink offering. Interest in the glamorous sporting event on the sparkling snow has surged among sponsors and VIP guests alike, with the traditional gala event at Badrutt’s Palace already fully booked! The Snow Polo World Cup will take place 26–28 January 2024. As always, admission is free. This truly is an event of superlatives: with the world’s elite players displaying top-class polo, set against a uniquely stunning mountain backdrop, teamed with an unparalleled supporting programme. Other players in the spotlight in addition to “Pelon” Stirling are Fred Mannix from Canada – without a doubt, one of the best, if not the best, amateur players in the world – and the Englishman Max Charlton, who for many is the best player on snow. Meanwhile, the reigning FIP Polo World Champion Pelayo Berazadi (Spain) will certainly have a lot of say in the final result. Spectators flock to Lake St. Moritz in their thousands every year. While the Engadin is slowly getting ready for the winter season, preparations are in full swing for the region’s top winter event: from 26 to 28 January 2024, over 20,000 lovers of action-packed polo will once again gather for a one-of-a-kind get together on the breathtakingly beautiful frozen Lake of St. Moritz. “The response to and demand for our tournament from world media, players, sponsors and VIP guests is exceptionally high,” enthuses tournament founder and organiser Reto Gaudenzi. “Never before have we been able to announce the team sponsors, equipment suppliers and team patrons so early before the tournament. We even have a waiting list for the gala evening! The trust shown in us by sponsors and players makes us very proud and is a great compliment to St. Moritz and the incredible work of the entire organisation.” Loyal sponsors, new partners and huge ticket demand In addition to long-standing sponsors such as Maura Wasescha, Mauritius, Kessel/Maserati and Sprüngli, as well as all of St. Moritz’s five-star hotels (Badrutt’s Palace, Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, Kempinski Grand Hôtel des Bains, Carlton Hotel, Suvretta House, and the newly opened Grace La Margna), various new sponsors and partners are supporting the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, including the exclusive Swiss catering company GAMMACATERING as official VIP hospitality marquee partner. The demand for VIP tickets has also shot up to levels significantly higher than the previous year. VIP and Chukker Club tickets for all days are currently still available at www.snowpolo-stmoritz.com/tickets/ on a first come, first served basis. Of course, admission to the tournament site is still free for all visitors. There, local restaurateurs and partners will take care of the visitors’ physical wellbeing for the whole weekend with an even richer menu than in past years. Guests can enjoy the traditional Snow Polo bratwurst from the Crystal Hotel kitchen, dim sum creations by Madame Sum, Argentinian asado specialties from AZADO, local delicacies from Alpen Food, a selection of dishes from Giardino Mountain, and the ‘Food Pop-up on the Ice’ from up-and-coming restaurateurs R.C. • Aldenham Education Group debuts newest school in partnership with KAFD

I Aldenham Education Group announces its newest school in Saudi Arabia in partnership with KAFD Prestigious new international school in King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) located in the heart of Riyadh. Aldenham Education Group (AEG) is to build a new K-12 school campus in King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) for children aged 3-18 years old. The announcement follows extensive discussions and due diligence between AEG and King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), resulting in the signing of a Letter of Intent between the two companies expressing their full agreement to build a new, world class international school in this vibrant district of Riyadh. KAFD DMC chose AEG to develop the only school to reside in the world-renowned business district due to Aldenham’s exceptional heritage, its unique all-round and forward-thinking approach, and its synergy with Vision 2030’s ambition to raise the quality of education, transform youth mindsets, and strengthen the economy. The signing heralds the start of the first stage of design and construction for the new AEG school to be named Aldenham Riyadh. It is anticipated that Aldenham Riyadh will be completed to accept students for the academic year beginning Autumn 2026. The school will be truly iconic: employing cutting edge design that marries the education of tomorrow aptly with Aldenham’s 425-year history as a pioneer of progressive, all-round, and holistic education which has continued until today. Aldenham Riyadh is uncommonly positioned as a genuine branch campus of a notable UK independent school not only in KSA but also among other schools in the wider GCC region. This is a direct result of AEG’s proprietary owner-operated model which ensures that all students receive continuity of experience, curriculum and academic standards straight from the mother school in the UK. This innovative model starts by infusing Aldenham’s culture by sending the existing Heads of its UK schools to act as the founding principals of the newly established campuses oversees. It continues by having the UK education team actively implement and adapt their UK curriculum in each new school. Finally, it is manifested by having its UK academic team involved in every interview of all pupils and teachers. These are just a few distinguishing examples of AEG’s unique methodology. The very first Aldenham school was established in 1597 in North London during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The school’s centuries-long pursuit of academic excellence, embodying the best of timeless traditions, universal values, and a forward-thinking culture, has always differentiated it from its peers. Now, over four hundred years later, Aldenham retains those early values with an approach that views education as a continual, lifelong pursuit and journey of personal growth, extending far beyond the attainment of degrees. The new school will be AEG’s second school in Riyadh: Aldenham Prep Riyadh opened in 2022. AEG has chosen KAFD, the largest Platinum LEED-certified mixed-use business district globally, to be its second home. Set right at the heart of the Saudi capital, KAFD is an attractive destination for local and expatriate families and parents who will welcome the high-quality education that Aldenham Riyadh will be well equipped to provide. The school will also make a significant and positive contribution to the district’s residential, business and social communities. Welcoming Aldenham Riyadh to KAFD, Gautam Sashittal, CEO of KAFD DMC, commented: “Widespread and quality education is the foundation of all societal growth and prosperity. Fulfilling the educational transformation objectives of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia invests heavily in the sector, having committed approximately 20% of the national budget in 2022 to education. We're absolutely thrilled to play a role in this and to welcome Aldenham Riyadh which will bring premium international education to local and international communities in KAFD.” The Kingdom is currently embarking on an ambitious reform agenda with Riyadh positioned to become one of the world’s most competitive and livable cities by 2030, putting education at the center stage of its Vision 2030. Acknowledging this, Shahram Hashemi, Managing Partner, Aldenham Education Group, said: “We are honored to be part of KAFD and the PIF family and look forward to building on this valued relationship through the provision of a world-beating education for current and future generations and helping make Vision 2030 a reality. We are proud of the nation’s tremendous growth and are delighted to be able to play a part in this and helping create a sustainable future." Alec Nejad, Managing Partner, Aldenham Education Group, concluded: “We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both the Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) and the Ministry of Investment (MISA) for inviting us one of the first educational institutions vetted to collaborate in the enlightened reform programs in the K-12 sector. Aldenham Education Group believes deeply that we have a responsibility to not only operate our own schools at the highest possible standards but to also be leading partners with RCRC, MISA, Ministry of Education as well as the private sector in the overall growth of the educational provision in the Kingdom.” KAFD Situated in Riyadh, KAFD is an iconic business and lifestyle destination with state-of-the-art physical and digital infrastructure. The destination is owned and managed by King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), which was established in 2018 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KAFD’s 95 buildings, designed by 25 world-leading architectural firms, have reshaped the skyline of Riyadh. The vibrant mixed-use district offers a range of experiences across its area of 1.6 million square meters and is the largest development globally to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest accreditation from the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council), which recognizes KAFD as a global leader in sustainability. This is in line with the strategy’s objective to enhance confidence in the quality infrastructure ecosystem under the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative, and the ministry's efforts to create an attractive business environment for investors.” He added: “The quality infrastructure ecosystem is being developed in integration and collaboration with regional and international organizations and bodies, with the firm belief in its ability to play a vital role in the performance of the industrial and advanced technology sector. This contributes to unifying industrial production by aligning technical regulations, standards, measurements, accreditation, and conformity assessment programs with their international counterparts. It also removes technical barriers, promoting trade. We also participated in decision-making and provided recommendations to support collaboration, meet the needs of member countries, and facilitate international trade as well as expand access to global markets.” The UAE was elected to become a member of the Board of Directors of SMIIC, Standardization Management Council (SMC) and Multilateral Agreement Council (MAC) for 2022-2024. MoIAT leverages its expertise, capabilities, and resources to strengthen the national industrial ecosystem by facilitating the establishment of industrial zones, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and the integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions and enabling the growth of priority sectors as well as industries of the future. The ministry’s work contributes to national efforts to build a diversified, knowledge-based economy and achieve industrial self-sufficiency. The ministry is a key driver of the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative and is playing an important role in the country’s COP28 agenda. The result brings the curtain down on an incredible era of GT racing, as the class closes with Vantage as the most successful car in LMGTE Am history. In a race free of Safety Car periods, pure performance mattered more in Bahrain than at any other race in the 2023 WEC, and this enabled Aston Martin Racing partner teams D’station Racing, Heart of Racing and ORT by TF to show the true endurance pace of the Vantage GTE and score a milestone 75th LMGTE Am podium in the category’s final race. Japanese entrant D’station Racing, with a Vantage GTE operated by 2022 World Champions TF Sport, scored its best ever result in the WEC as series debutant Liam Talbot (AUS) qualified second in GTE Am and set a strong pace; the intensity of which was matched by team-mates Casper Stevenson (GBR) and Tomonobu Fujii (JPN) as the trio finished second, just five seconds from victory after eight hours of hard racing. The Heart of Racing team made it a double-podium finish. Its trio of drivers, led by Team Principal Ian James (GBR), Daniel Mancinelli (ITA) and Alex Riberas (ESP) took third, with the team in contention for victory until contact delayed the #98 car with two hours to go. Heart of Racing’s result is the latest in a long line of achievements for the team with Vantage in the past 13 months. The US-based operation won the 2022 GTD division in the North American IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and was the first GT car home in this year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona – a first for Aston Martin. The race result means that the Vantage GTE, the prototype version of the British-built race car derived from Aston Martin’s critically-acclaimed ultra-luxury sportscar, which shares the same aluminium body-frame and a specially-tuned version of the four-litre V8 turbo-charged production engine, completes the GTE Am era as its most successful car with a record 33 wins and a total of 75 podiums. In what was the best event of the year for Vantage, ORT by TF ran strongly inside the top four after a quick and consistent performance by Omani driver Ahmad Al Harthy, Michael Dinan (USA) and Aston Martin works racer Charlie Eastwood (IRL) but retired with 20 minutes to go. Combining both the GTE Am and GTE Pro classes – the latter of which was discontinued after 2022 – Vantage has amassed 52 victories in the WEC’s 85 races and has finished on the podium 119 times, at least one of which came in every single season since the FIA revived the World Championship in 2012. Eleven world titles have been achieved in that time as well as five victories in the world’s biggest motor race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including a GTE Pro and Am double in 2020. “The Aston Martin Vantage GTE has completed every single one of its objectives and covered itself in glory in the process,” said Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Racing Adam Carter. “A multiple championship-winning race car, Vantage won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in both classes and was a force throughout its six-year run in the world championship. It will be rightly remembered as one of the great sportscars in the modern era of the sport. We’re incredibly excited about what’s coming next for Aston Martin in world endurance racing, but we must also be proud of what has been achieved with Vantage GTE.” The 2024 FIA WEC, and its new LMGT3 era, commences with the Qatar 1812km at Lusail on March 2. The Qatar round is the first of an extended-eight race calendar, the centrepiece of which will be the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15-16. Aston Martin’s vision is to be the world’s most desirable, ultra-luxury British brand, creating the most exquisitely addictive performance cars. Founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, Aston Martin is acknowledged as an iconic global brand synonymous with style, luxury, performance, and exclusivity. Fans packed into the arena in the UAE’s capital to enjoy a full day of world class racing, freestyle motocross shows, live music, and a show stopping pyrotechnics display. The event is the first ever supercross championship to take place in the region and is the first time an event at Etihad Arena and a supercross track have both run indoors and outdoors. 40 of the world’s best riders battled it out for the prestigious podium spots, with Joey Savatgy emerging as champion in the WSX (450cc) division, and Max Anstie placing first in the SX2 (250cc) race. Joey Savatgy, winner of the 450cc WSX category and the current Championship leader, said “It’s always really exciting to ride a new track, and today surpassed our expectations. The team in Abu Dhabi has done an amazing job transforming this indoor arena into a suitable dirt track for us. Having a two row start gate is a really unique concept and I luckily got out of the gate pretty well in the first two races, which put me in a good spot going into the third. The competition was really tough this weekend, and I’m glad to have come away with the overall win.” Max Anstie, the winner of the SX2 250cc class, said “We have had a great day in Abu Dhabi, and I’m really happy to have come out with a win, especially for the first ever World Supercross Championship event in Abu Dhabi. We are also happy to have provided young talent from the UAE a platform to showcase their skills to an international audience. “At Ethara, we are committed to continually adding more variety and diversity for the Abu Dhabi entertainment and sporting calendar, and the addition of the FIM World Supercross Championship to our portfolio is testament to our dedication to setting new standards of excellence for events.” The entire transformation process of Etihad Arena from a clean venue into a finished racing track, took approximately four days, involving 16 different forms of earth moving machinery such as excavators, dozers, and street sweepers. 7,000 tonnes of locally sourced clay-based dirt were brought in to the venue, after being carefully selected to adhere to safety regulation. The track boasted multiple jumps, including the “Triple” - the most significant and challenging jump. The Triple comprised three jumps that riders had to clear in a single leap, covering a distance of around 70 feet. Looping outside of the Etihad Arena, the outside section saw riders take on two tight rhythm sections with corners that posed high risk for errors, and high entertainment for the audience. SX Global CEO, Adam Bailey, said: “The success of the first ever World Supercross event in Abu Dhabi marks a significant milestone in the Championship's history and demonstrates our commitment at SX Global to delivering top-tier sporting entertainment for our fans. We’ve been blown away by the positive response we’ve received from Abu Dhabi and the crowd tonight was sensational - so much energy and enthusiasm.” The event opened with a showstopping pyrotechnics display, which set the scene for the adrenaline-filled and action-packed day. The opening ceremony then concluded with a traditional Ayala performance, before the riders took to the track and battled it out for their chance at a podium spot. The audience was then treated to a nail-biting FM freestyle display, carrying out a series of jumps and stunts that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Abu Dhabi-born rapper Freek closed off the night with a live performance of his hits including “Doos” and “Mush Fathi”. At the end of the month, the riders will head to the home of WSX, Australia, for the Melbourne Grand Prix - the final event of the Championship. The success of the first ever FIM World Supercross Championship Abu Dhabi Grand Prix signifies not only the growing appetite for motorsport in the region, but also showcases the capital’s ability to host world-class sporting spectacles. The event adds to Ethara’s growing portfolio of diverse entertainment offerings and is testament to the company’s dedication to setting new standards of excellence for events. The FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) is an international supercross racing Championship led by SX Global in Australia. The World Supercross Championship was primarily based in the USA before the world governing body for motorcycle sport, Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), awarded SX Global the exclusive organisational and commercial rights to stage and promote the World Supercross Championship from 2022 onwards. Last year, the WSX pilot season was launched at Principality Stadium, Cardiff to over 35,000 fans before it headed down under, where 50,000 fans witnessed the finale across two nights at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. The 2022 Championship saw Ken Roczen from Germany win the WSX class, and Shane McElrath from the USA win the SX2 class. WSX offers the biggest prize money in World Supercross Championship history, with US$250,000 to be won at each round across the two racing classes – WSX (450cc) and SX2 (250cc). Under its independent team franchise model, the Championship also features unprecedented financial support for teams and riders. WSX provides an elevated experience for fans through unique race formats, broadcast innovations, and in-stadium entertainment suitable for people and families of all ages.
