There are lots of watchmaking awards… but one prize ceremony stands above all the rest, without discussion: the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, aka GPHG, the “Oscars of watchmaking” which took place once again last night.
MBandF had their fair share of awards at the GPHG these last years, winning no less than 7 prizes, in 7 different categories:
- 2010: HM4 wins Best Concept and Design Watch;
- 2012: LM1 brings home two awards, the Public Prize and Best Mens’ Watch;
- 2016: LM Perpetual wins Best Calendar Watch;
- 2019: LM FlyingT takes the Best Ladies’ Complication;
- 2022: two prizes, with Best Mens’ Complication for the LMX and LM SE Eddy Jaquet winning the Artistic Crafts award;
… but MB&F were missing one award, the ultimate prize: the “Aiguille d’Or”, which rewards the best watch of the year overall.
Coincidentally, the timepiece which adds this ultimate trophy to MBandF collection, the LM Sequential EVO, happens to be the company's 20th calibre in just 17 years. The company sends special thanks to the one-and-only Stephen McDonnell.
