Met Gala’s most exceptional look by Sudha Reddy -celebrating the history of the USA

The Costume Institute Benefit, most commonly known at the Met Gala, was held in September, after last year’s break. Joining the celebrities, who graced the steps of Metropolitan Museum in their finest attire, was philanthropist and business tycoon, Sudha Reddy, wife of billionaire Megha Krishna Reddy.

Sudha Reddy,

A lover of fashion and the fine arts and widely known for her support of charitable and cultural causes, her presence at the 2021 Met Gala came as no surprise.

This year’s gala “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”–co-chaired by Naomi Osaka, Billie Eilish, Timothee Chalamet and Amanda Gorman, along with honorary chairs Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour-marks the exhibition opening on September 18 at the Met’s Anna Wintour Costume Center.

Internationally renowned jewellery designer and gem master Farah Khan created a spectacular custom-designed statement ear piece called “Dreamy Decadence” to complete the red-carpet look; the dazzling piece of jewelry is crafted in 18 Kt. gold and features 38.72 carats of VVS diamonds.

Keeping up with the year's theme, South India’s doyenne wore an haute couture look by renown Indian designers Falguni Shane Peacock who have dressed A-list celebrities like Beyoncé, Madonna, Katy Perry and Rihanna, among others. The dress, inspired by the American Revolution, and took over 250 hours of work to be handcrafted, is a metallic gold body-hugging gown with a shimmering 4-meter flared trail, with color accents reminiscing the American flag, and embellished with Swarovski crystals, sequins and bugle beads.
