  • Formula E and the FIA confirmed the full driver line-up for Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World

I FORMULA E DRIVERS AND ROOKIES ASSEMBLE FOR MILESTONE SEASON 10 TESTING IN SPAIN Formula E and the FIA confirmed the full driver line-up for Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship which begins with pre-season testing in Valencia this week. For the first time, rookie drivers will also test on the track alongside their elite teammates. Formula E’s 22 drivers from 11 teams will return to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo track where, almost a year ago, the new GEN3 car got a mixed reaction. Since then, the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built has broken all Formula E speed records, while most races saw triple-digit overtakes in Formula E’s most entertaining and exciting season yet. Drivers and teams will return to the track with a more robust understanding of the GEN3 car’s capabilities and a readiness to push its limits even further. Pre-season testing is the first chance for fans to see drivers in their new teams and car liveries. Only three teams retain the same line-up as last season – TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, DS PENSKE, and NIO 33 Racing – with plenty of high-profile changes. Some notable moves include: Jehan Daruvala, Maserati MSG Racing – the 2023 Formula E rookie will make the step up to a full-time seat following his success in Formula 2. He was also previously one of three Force India F1 Team winners of the ‘One in a Billion’ Hunt. Nyck De Vries, Mahindra Racing - De Vries first joined Formula E in 2019 where he immediately showcased his world-class racing ability to take home the FIA Formula E World Champion title. De Vries returns to Formula E with Mahindra Racing after driving for the F1 team Scuderia AlphaTauri. Lucas di Grassi, ABT CUPRA Formula E Team – the Formula E veteran and former Formula E World Champion will return to ABT Cupra for the team’s second season. Nick Cassidy, Jaguar TCS Racing – last season’s runner-up in the world championship now shares a garage with Mitch Evans who finished just two points behind Cassidy in third, creating a formidable pairing. Oliver Rowland, Nissan Formula E Team – The Brit marks his homecoming to the all-electric series with his return to the Japanese manufacturer. Sam Bird, NEOM McLaren Formula E Team – English team Neom McLaren complete their all-Brit driver line up with the seasoned Bird joining the team. Robin Frijins, Envision Racing – Frijins returns to Envision for Season 10, where he previously spent four years with the customer team and secured a fourth overall in the 2018-2019 season. Rookie testing For the first time, all teams must nominate a rookie who has never driven a GEN3 in a Formula E race to test their skills on the track against the lead drivers. Gabriela Jílková is among the rookies who will make her much-anticipated electric racing debut for TAG Heuer Porsche. One of Czech Republic’s brightest young talents, Jílková is an experienced Prototype Cup Germany race winner, and a Formula Renault and Sportcars competitor. Integrating rookies into pre-season testing is designed to offer new and emerging talent the chance to showcase their skills in the cutting-edge GEN3. Formula E is increasingly seen as a test bed for the best young talent to gain exposure in the sport. They will be able to compete in any one of the six sessions across the week, excluding race simulations. Alberto Longo, Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer, Formula E, said: “We are excited to give the very best emerging racing talent the chance to show why they deserve a seat in the championship in the future – by going up against the elite drivers and world champions in Formula E today.” Formula E and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship As the world’s first all-electric FIA World Championship and the only sport certified net zero carbon since inception, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship brings dramatic racing to the heart of some of the world’s most iconic cities providing an elite motorsport platform for the world’s leading automotive manufacturers to accelerate electric vehicle innovation. The Formula E network of teams, manufacturers, partners, broadcasters, and host cities are united by a passion for the sport and belief in its potential to accelerate sustainable human progress and create a better future for people and planet. www.FIAFormulaE.com ABB ABB is a technology leader in electrification and automation, enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future. The company’s solutions connect engineering know-how and software to optimize how things are manufactured, moved, powered and operated. Building on more than 130 years of excellence, ABB’s ~105,000 employees are committed to driving innovations that accelerate industrial transformation. www.abb.com Pack nicotine alternatives Smoking cessation isn’t a one-and-done thing; being out with friends—especially smokers—might exacerbate your cravings. • Hublot partners with SAMUEL ROSS

I BIG BANG TOURBILLON SR_A BY SAMUEL ROSS: FUNCTIONALITY AND EXPRESSION © Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO and Sauel Ross, Hublot Ambassador Art, creativity, design, a never-ending story of renewal. An organic and cyclical process in which Ross, the radically distinct, generational artist, continues to grow his own creations. Like living materials, Dr. Samuel Ross’s creativity and thoughts are constantly shaping, reshaping, improving, imagining and reimagining things. For his next development on the Big Bang Tourbillon SR_A by Samuel Ross, Ross has brought subtle yet insightful details. Precision, clarity and choice are integrated through SR_A’s signature industrial language. Applying Samuel Ross’s artistic language to Hublot watchmaking is exactly how he envisioned the sculpture that marked the start of his creative collaboration with Hublot in 2020 : encapsulating materials in aerodynamic, simple and striking shapes incorporating imprints of Nature’s sacred geometry to tell 40 years of Hublot history. Building on the perfect hexagonal pattern, Ross knows how to contrast hyper-technical with traditional elements to ensure a perfect fit with Hublot’s Art of Fusion vision. Just as in the sculpture he created for Hublot, Ross takes on the Big Bang tourbillon by playing on transparency with holes in the structure, as well as referencing the origins of Fusion by mixing rubber with manufactured metal. By juxtaposing contrasting materials, he has created a balance between the organic and the industrial, forged through innovation. • Max Studennikoff: TIME IS PLAYING AGAINST HUMANITY IN THE CLIMATE CHANGE RACE

I In the run-up to the forthcoming IX edition of CC Forum "Investment in Sustainable Development" on 6-7 December during the UN's COP28 in Dubai VISIONNAIRE interviewed its Founder and Chairman Max Studennikoff. © All images courtesy of www.cc-forum.com What is the mission and objective of the CC Forum? Since its very inception, the mission and ethos of CC Forum have been to convene senior decision-makers—C-level executives, partners, founders, institutional investors, and private investors—and get them to brainstorm on cracking down on the pressing issues we are all facing today. The CC Forum has also been conceived as a global launching pad for ground-breaking projects to showcase their initiatives, gain visibility and exposure, and eventually get funded. Simply put, the practical objective of CC Forum has been to connect the savviest of investors to the brightest of startups. How was the concept of the CC Forum born? The concept of the forum was certainly not born overnight. Having been in event management for a number of years and being both a serial entrepreneur and myself a sought-after speaker at major international events, I have spent quite a few years pondering over the right concept of the conference. After having attended so many sustainability-related events worldwide, I have come to the conclusion that, while most of them do provide a larger picture of the scale and scope of the climate change crisis, they simply fail to drive home the most important. That is identifying, working out, and showcasing concrete investment-based and down-to-earth solutions to the problems this planet and mankind are confronting today. In other words, they provide with the whats and whys, but rarely with how and almost never with how much. An eye-opening moment occurred back in 2017, when I happened to be having a cup of coffee over the table with one of the former Bank of England's governors at a global world economic conference in the Swiss Alps. Nomina sunt odiosa (smiling). We engaged in a random conversation, and at this point, my interlocutor dropped a phrase: "Max, this is not what the world wants. We do not need a vanity fair. But if you were to get together the doers, the world transformers, the movers and shakers willing to put their mouth where their money is, THAT would make a difference". This resonated perfectly with my own thoughts prior to this cusp encounter. Ever since that moment, it has become abundantly clear to me that the only way forward would be to create a new type of conference. one that, while being laser-focused on investment in sustainability, would essentially act as a club. The club of impact investors is made up of individuals more concerned with the long-term environmental and social impact than just pure profit-making. Little did I know back then what it would take to get to where we are now. But there you go. It is now safe to assume that it is governments and kingdoms that are vying to host the CC Forum's future editions in their home countries. What does CC stand for? It stands for Climate Change, as investment in climate change action has been consistently the backbone of all of our editions. But we have been taking a holistic approach to the subject matter. We consider that climate change action is not possible without engaging related areas. For example, we have been including in our agendas discussions on investment in education, since I firmly believe that reaching any tangible results would be futile without educating our youth. Another topic is healthcare, as I have always thought the health of the planet is our own health. Emerging technologies for resolving sustainability issues have been another mainstay of our programs. Climate change action is also inextricably linked with social impact and social inclusion. Hence, our agendas have always been quite broad and have covered such areas as government strategies, waste management, finance, fintech, real estate, healthcare, education, agriculture, emerging technologies, social inclusion, charity, and philanthropy. The CC Forum is essentially about ALL good causes, since I am convinced that it is through the cross-interaction of all adjacent and relevant domains that humanity has a chance of bootstrapping itself from the man-invoked disaster. What does a typical program in the CC Forum look like? There is no such thing as a typical program on the CC Forum (laughing). Wherever in the world we take the forum, we are always trying to align our agendas with what the country (or region) in question has to offer. Our large editions are traditionally four-day events full of at least two fully-fledged conference days with plenary sessions, investors' meetings, round tables, etc. However, since we attach so much importance to high-level networking, traditionally our programs have included our black-tie investors' Gala Dinner alongside a whole string of VIP networking events. Now, these networking events vary depending on the locale. For instance, when it comes to Monaco, we tend to organize our pre-event get-togethers on board a large private yacht; in London, this may include receptions at the House of Lords or the House of Commons; in the Middle East, we held, with much panache, private networking outings in the desert. Delegates travel to attend CC Forums from all over the world to experience our signature blend of on-stage brainstorming sessions and a string of high-level networking events. This is how contacts are made and partnerships are forged. What about the agendas? Do these vary too? Indeed. We always do our best to make sure that our agendas are not only fully aligned with the larger frameworks of investing in climate change action and related areas, but truly reflect the strengths, benefits, as well as concerns and challenges of the particular country or region where the forum is held. This is particularly true as far as our across-the-industry workshop tracks are concerned. For example, our three editions in London were focusing on finance and fintech given the fact that the UK's capital, despite the Brexit implications, is still largely considered to be a major global financial hub. By contrast, the two editions in Monaco dealt largely with such topics as the preservation of the oceans and the future of mobility. Finally, the two of our editions in the Middle East, in Dubai and Bahrain, embraced such topics as involving big oil and gas in cracking down on sustainability issues, family office governance, investment in potable water solutions, and real estate, as it is this particular content that has always been synonymous with the GCC. In Malta, the basis of our content was innovation and investment in emerging technologies, including blockchain and AI. Does the forum enjoy the support of senior government officials? Very much so. In 2020, our Monegasque edition benefited from the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, who also graciously bestowed his presence on the forum. Prior to that, the Maltese edition was held under the patronage and in the presence of the then PM of Malta, Dr. Joseph Muscat. Last year, our 7th edition, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, benefited from the auspices of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. It always helps when the two are in one (laughing). An endorsement of the senior figurehead is of paramount importance for the success of the forum in that it provides both further credibility and, most importantly, sends out a powerful signal to all parties at home and abroad that the event should be taken seriously. Are geopolitical conflicts in the way of the world's working out a coherent strategy of fighting the climate change? Absolutely. The Russian-Ukrainian war, which unfortunately keeps on raging, triggered a major energy and food crisis last year. This has not only been a significant distraction from the global community's efforts to work out climate change solutions but has in many ways presented a direct obstacle to implementing both net zero policies and the UN's SDG goals. So much so that a number of European countries ended up introducing what they described as temporary measures, including the re-usage of coal mines and the re-initiation of nuclear power projects. The current crisis in Palestine has the potential to divert mankind's attention from resolving sustainability issues. We cannot afford to be distracted or diverted. Is there any chance of the world staying within the limits of 1,5 climate benchmark? Time is playing against humanity in the climate change race. And yet, it is still not too late to avert the disaster. • World Investment Forum Ends with Strong Call for Greater Private and Public Investment

World Investment Forum 2023: Global Leaders Urge Action for Sustainable Development at the 8th World Investment Forum, as the UN Secretary-General calls for action from public and private sectors to deliver $500 billion a year in affordable, long-term financing to developing countries. UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the 8th World Investment Forum The weeklong event saw the convergence of 8,000 participants, including government officials, international organizations, policymakers, 700 CEOs and investors, sovereign wealth funds, sustainable stock exchanges and key capital markets actors. Held against the backdrop of a fragmented global economy, the forum addressed the profound impact on trade and investment, with foreign direct investment experiencing a continued downturn as data from the first half of 2023 highlighted. LTR: Lauren Holtman, Salem Al Shamsi, Laith Al-Bazirgan, Miray Zaki, Simon Storesund UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Pedro Manuel Moreno said the downturn “is of much concern as less investment means less economic growth and fewer means to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals – the SDGs.” H. E. Mohamed Al Musharrakh Notably, small island developing states, exemplified by the presence of Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, called for the leveraging of blended financing and other “derisking” solutions to tackle funding shortages in countries that face debt distress, the challenging international investment climate, tightening financing conditions and persistent institutional and infrastructure shortcomings. The 8th World Investment Forum, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), opened today in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, focusing on the investment challenges faced by the world's developing countries amid today's global crises. UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in a statement, urged participants—heads of state, business leaders, sustainable stock exchanges, sovereign wealth funds and experts— to put the SDG Stimulus Package into effect and work towards delivering $500 billion annual investment for developing countries. He also called on governments to establish a fair price on carbon and companies to implement credible net-zero plans, aligning with the recommendations of the High-Level Expert Group on the Net-Zero Emissions Commitments of Non-State Entities. With the theme "Investing in Sustainable Development," the forum strategically aligns with the upcoming global climate change talks at COP28. A dedicated track within the forum will focus on advancing climate finance and investment, providing a crucial platform for policymakers to find solutions and support global climate negotiations. The opening ceremony featured Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste and Nobel laureate, and President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo, setting the stage for the weeklong event. Global leaders tackle funding gap The Global Leaders Summit addressed the $4 trillion SDG investment gap, as only 15% of the SDGs are on target to be met by 2030, with the investment gap in the developing world growing from $2.5 trillion per year in 2015 to $4 trillion today. The Global Leaders Investment Summit revealed a staggering $6 trillion valuation for the sustainable finance market. However, Secretary-General Grynspan pointed out: "Not enough funds are going into new renewable energy plants, water and sanitation installations, agricultural projects, hospitals. And only 5% of all sustainable funds are located in developing countries. Funding exists, but allocation has been misguided." Leaders, including Germany’s Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, discussed ways to close the SDG investment gap, mobilize sustainable finance in global capital markets, ensure sustainability standards in sustainable finance and channel more funds to where they are needed most. The discussion emphasized the key need for international coordination given the scale of the investment needs and blended finance involving both public and private sectors including new actors such as sovereign wealth funds. The forum spotlighted critical sectors, such as the just energy transition and perspectives from countries like Indonesia, South Africa and Viet Nam. Urgent need to invest in agrifood sector On World Food Day, amid global supply chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, UNCTAD and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) highlighted the critical role agrifood systems play in tackling global malnutrition, poverty, the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and climate change. FAO Director-General Dongyu Qu said transforming agrifood systems will cost $680 billion annually between now and 2030 in low and middle-income countries. Therefore, there is a critical need to attract efficient public and private sector investment in agrifood systems to reduce food insecurity and foster rural employment, particularly for women and young people. Channelling greater investment in sustainable finance in global capital markets to food production where it is needed most will require addressing the challenges of risk, institutional capacity, investment promotion and ease of doing business. UN Investment Promotion Awards 2023 celebrate success in climate action Ten investment promotion agencies and special economic zones received the Investment Promotion Awards 2023, with winners from Brazil, China, Egypt, France, India, Namibia, the Republic of Korea, South Africa, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates. This year’s awards spotlight the work of investment promotion agencies in attracting investment to accelerate the transition to clean, sustainable energy aimed at curbing climate change, while recognizing innovative approaches to investment promotion, finance and partnerships. While international investment in renewable energy has nearly tripled since the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015, much of the growth has been concentrated in developed countries. About UNCTAD UNCTAD is the UN trade and development body. It supports developing countries to access the benefits of a globalized economy more fairly and effectively and equips them to deal with the potential drawbacks of greater economic integration. It provides analysis, facilitates consensus-building and offers technical assistance to help developing countries use trade, investment, finance and technology as vehicles for inclusive and sustainable development. UNCTAD organizes the World Investment Forum with stakeholders and partners. ----------------------- Web: unctad.org Pack nicotine alternatives Smoking cessation isn’t a one-and-done thing; being out with friends—especially smokers—might exacerbate your cravings. • Czapek introduces its seminal Quai des Bergues model

I Czapek introduces its seminal Quai des Bergues model in a 40.5mm steel case, with a newly developed hand-guilloché pattern on the dial. One size never truly fits all – and with this in mind, Czapek presents its Quai des Bergues model in a new, 40.5mm case. The steel case retains all of the stylistic signatures of the Quai des Bergues case – with a slight refinement of the case-side recesses in order to incorporate the movement (Calibre SXH1) – and a subtle change to the slope of the lugs to ensure a perfect fit on the wrist. “The two existing sizes of the Quai des Bergues have always been well received,” says Czapek CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel. “But, among our community of enthusiasts, we’ve had many comments and discussions about creating a perfect ‘Goldilocks’ size in between – one that is adaptable and elegant, looks both dressy and sporty and has a great presence on wrists of all sizes. The design of the case is very organic and fluid – and for that, I pay tribute to the biomechanical style of the artist H.R.Giger [designer of Alien] whose work has always fascinated me.” To complement the new case size, Czapek, together with its dial-making partner Metalem, has developed an entirely new guilloché pattern. They have named it Guilloché ‘Double Soleil’, after the parhelion phenomenon, an optical illusion that appears under certain atmospheric conditions as a luminous spot on one or both sides of the sun. Also known colloquially as ‘sun dogs’, parhelia occur when the sun shines through thin cirrus clouds composed of hexagonal ice crystals, which refract the rays, rather like the effect of a prism. This spectacular and rare phenomenon most often occurs in winter, when the sun is low in the sky. The starting point for the new pattern was a discussion about the Maison’s proprietary Ricochet Guilloché. Through a process of iteration, with greater emphasis on vertical symmetry and straighter, deeper cuts, the new Double Soleil pattern achieves a bolder and more contemporary look. And it plays an intriguing visual trick: are the lines radiating outwards like sunrays from behind the sub-dials or are they being drawn inwards? The dial is offered in a choice of Deep Blue or Tuxedo Black. In addition to the new guillochage, the movement (manually wound, with a 7-day power reserve) has been refreshed “We revised the movement last year by open-working the bridges,” says de Roquemaurel. “Like the new dial guillochage, this is very much in keeping with our desire always to display the beauty of craftsmanship – to honour the hand of man – which is the essence of haute horlogerie and reveals more than time.” Pack nicotine alternatives Smoking cessation isn’t a one-and-done thing; being out with friends—especially smokers—might exacerbate your cravings. • The Fondation Haute Horlogerie announces its annual Forum in Geneva

I The Fondation Haute Horlogerie will bring together industry professionals, speakers and panellists at its annual Forum to be held on 8 November in Geneva. After the question of sustainability in 2022, the theme of this edition will focus on the adaptability of the watch sector to its customers in a constantly changing world. By way of its three pillars of activity - Watches and Culture by FHH, the FHH Academy and the FHH Forum - the Fondation Haute Horlogerie focuses now more than ever on the influence of watchmaking culture internationally and the industry’s staying power. The FHH Forum raises questions along those lines in order to provoke reflection. This platform for discussion, information and debate, designed for the industry by the industry, will come together again this year on 8 November at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva, for its 11th edition, around a central theme: “Horology Futurology: Grasping the complexities of a fast-changing customer reality”. The event will present an opportunity for brands, professionals, as well as scientists, researchers and public figures to come together. Prospective sessions starting from a macro environment, followed by practical sessions, focused on the industry make up this year’s programme. The first sessions lean towards aspirational topics, reporting on geopolitical, economic, social and ecological trends with long-term impact on both the world in general and indirectly on the watch industry. The question of interconnectivity between nature and man and the actions to be undertaken will also be addressed. Finally, to close this forward-looking half of the programme, a session on the management of long and short terms in business will unfold, to ensure better efficiency. To address these questions, the Forum will bring together internationally renowned figures such as Ian Goldin - economist, author and professor of globalisation and development at the University of Oxford; Virginie Raisson – international relations analyst and President of the GIEC Pays de Loire; Bruno David – French naturalist specialising in palaeontology and former president of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris; and Inès Leonarduzzi, founder and director of the NGO “Digital for the Planet”, founder of C-Contemporaine and author of Réparer le futur. So many prolific minds brought together in the endeavour to provide solutions to these essential questions. As for the industry-focused sessions, they will centre on the customer perspective, their behaviour and expectations, addressing the evolution customer engagement in a context of extreme trend polarization. Alongside behavioural scientists, retail experts and luxury industry representatives, Deloitte will also exclusively unveil the answers to four additional questions asked specifically for the FHH Forum to the 6,000 participants of its annual study on the industry. But questioning the future of customer engagement in a changing context cannot be done without the main players in the watch industry, who will all be present on 8 November, 2023 to address these very current questions. An ambitious program, through which the FHH intends to demonstrate its desire to positively and enduringly support the industry as a whole.
