  • The 37th America’s Cup debuts in Saudi Arabia

I America’s Cup © The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has drawn the attention of Marine sports enthusiasts around the world and especially the city of Jeddah which has been selected to host a leg of the 37th America’s Cup later this year. The world's top sailors will converge on the Red Sea in late November for the second Preliminary Regatta, leading into the main event set to take place in Barcelona in 2024. WATCH VIDEO The world’s oldest and most prestigious sailing competition, dating all the way back to 1851, will be coming to the middle-east thanks to the Saudi Sailing Federation. It will be hosted at Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina, a state-of-the-art facility on the Red Sea that has already proven its ability to host world-class events, having accommodated the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix since its first edition in 2021. This comes in line with the great efforts of the Saudi Sailing Federation and the Ministry of Sports which are keen on promoting marine sports in the Kingdom to achieve the goals of the vision 2030. Grant Dalton, AC37 Event CEO, believes that. “This is the first international sailing regatta on the Red Sea. Not only that, but it’s the pinnacle of the sport, the America's Cup. We're trailblazing in a region that’s the future of the sport, and I take immense pride in being a part of that.” As Dalton explains: “One of the great advantages of Jeddah is you can sail very close to the shore because the water is so deep," he explains. Normally you’d need to get out in a boat to watch, but because the teams will be sailing so close to the shore, spectators will be able to watch entire legs of the race from the Corniche.” He also added: “Sat in those stands could be the next great Saudi sailor, and that’s the key motivation behind the Saudi Sailing Federation’s bid for the event.” Dalton believes that there is a golden opportunity for growth in the region. “When you consider the youth population, along with the azure waters of the Red Sea, the conditions are perfect for the growth of all types of water sport.” And through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Sailing Federation and the America’s Cup, we will work side by side to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Sports, increase participation and elevate the standards of sailing within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With the AC40 boats passing by the Corniche at speeds of 90+ kph, the Jeddah regatta is shaping up to be a thrilling experience for spectators and sailors alike. Secure your tickets for the event (29 Nov–2 Dec) at the links below. The Saudi Sailing Federation, the national governing body for the sport, is dedicated to developing and promoting sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and wingfoiling throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By striving to make sailing accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or ability, the Federation aims to increase participation and elevate the standards of sailing within the country. With a focus on both encouraging newcomers and nurturing future Saudi sailing champions, the organization is committed to introducing the entire spectrum of sailing to the Kingdom, from Olympic classes to pleasure crafts. Ultimately, the Saudi Sailing Federation seeks to provide the best possible sailing experience for the people of Saudi Arabia while fostering the growth of the sport. The Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina, the first of its kind along the Red Sea Coast, officially opened in March 2022 as an entry point to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. • DUBAI INTERNATIONAL BAJA UNDER WAY

I Al Attiyah Welcomes Challenge from Emerging Young Drivers  Al Balooshi Heads the UAE Challenge on Motos FIA and FIM World Cups in Baja finals in Dubai© After months of preparation, Dubai International Baja is finally under way as the competitors face into the demanding dunes of Dubai. Rally weekend began today with the pre-event press conference followed by the ceremonial start and the all-new nighttime prologue at Dubai Festival City. As the competitors head towards the Al-Futtaim Toyota stage on Leg One in Al Qudra desert on Saturday, all eyes are on the intriguing battle between established off-road star Nasser Al Attiyah in his new Prodrive Hunter and the 21-year-old tyro from Califronia, Seth Quintero who has replaced him at Toyota Gazoo Racing. Far from feeling threatened by the emerging challenge of youth, the 18-times Middle East Rally Champion is energized by the prospect of a battle with Quinetrro and 2021 winner Yazeed Al Rajhi. “Yazeed is one of the strongest competitors,” said Al Atiyah. “He comes every year and now we have Seth who has taken my place in Toyota GR and I’m so happy to see a new generation (emerging). Thanks to Toyota for bringing a new generation into this kind of racing. Sometimes you need to open the door the other competitors. I spent six or seven years at Toyota and we won everything. Thanks to them and now we have switched to Prodrive Hunter and it will be a really nice fight between all the teams. l am really excited (to be with my new team) and really excited to be here in Dubai to test my new car because it will be tough terrain and not easy. I have a lot of experience of this kind of road and this is the reason we send the car here to have feedback for the next step in Dakar and we are here to win this race.” 2021 winner Yazeed Al Rajhi was quick to acknowledge the support of local government authorities in making the event possible and was looking forward to facing off against Al Attiyah and Quintero among others as he looks to complete his injury blighted season on a high note. “Thank you to the Dubai Government and Emirate for supporting our sport. Thank you to all the government sectors, the police, the army and all the sponsors for helping. Sure, our target, me and my team, is to come and fight against competitors who are top drivers at a high level. It won’t be an easy weekend but the important thing is that everybody enjoys it. I hope everything goes well with us and everybody else. That’s the most important thing. Me and my team are pushing to do a great job but this year we’ve been unlucky because I couldn’t do a lot of racing. I broke my ribs skiing and missed some events and that was unlucky but I hope that next year we can come back strong and do our best.” For his part Quintero was quick to pay tribute to the assistance he had had from teammate Al Rahji and Al Attiyah in fast tracking his development. “I’m super, super excited to be even sitting next to these guys and they’re in a class of their own. I’ve looked up to them for a very, very long time. The whole time in race and rally these two guys have been kind enough to take me under their wing and show me the ropes which has been amazing and to finally step up with Toyota Gazoo Racing Team and to get my opportunity to race a T1 against these guys is definitely a blessing and I’m definitely looking forward to it. Dania Akeel, the first ever Saudi woman to compete in international rallying recognised the part Dubai has played in her motorsport odyssey. “It’s really special and an excellent place to improve your skills in the desert. “My love of racing started here in Dubai in 2019 when I raced in the Ducati Cup at the Dubai Autodrome and after that I was hooked on competing in motorsport. It all started in Dubai on two wheels and on asphalt.” On the motos, David Megre of Portugal leads the FIM World Cup Bajas standings heading into this final round of the season and is quick to emphasise his vast experience in the battle for event and overall honours. “I‘m in the front and it’s good for me. I will try to win but I have great competitors. I will do my best. I think the secret is my age! I’m a little bit older and I’ve done a lot of racing in my 20-year career. It’s beautiful here and I hope it’s good for me.” Flying the flag for the local fans is Mohammed Al Balooshi, one of the Middle East’s top motocross and cross-country riders with a string of titles and likely to challenge this weekend after mechanical issues stymied his 2022 bid.. “It’s very exciting for me," he said. “There is, like, a healthy pressure. I like this kind of pressure because it’s exciting and I’m pumped up to go and in Dubai it’s always full gas. David (Megre) spoke to me last night and asked me about my gearing and I told him. In bikes it’s very tranquil, very easy. In the cars, it’s different.” Sarah Khuraibet of Kuwait leads the Women World Cup classification with only Dubai round to go and has a special bond with Dbai. “Dubai was actually my first rally so for me to come back here and hopefully finish on the podium it’s going to be coming full circle almost. “I’m going to do my best and hopefully bring the title home but, honestly, I’m very proud of where I’ve come from in the last two years to here so I don’t really have the pressure to win. I’m a different person on the bike and off the bike as well. Rallies really teach you a lot of things. It makes you a much more humble person. You learn so much and meet different people along the way.” On the quads, Frenchman Kevin Giroud will start favourite at an event which will be a new experience for him “I love the desert, I love this race and we will see if I can take the win on the quad. It’s my first participation here and so far so good.” Following the Friday evening nighttime prologue, the event continues on Saturday morning with the first competitor into action at 8:01 for 336.51km of driving and riding of which 17okm is on the Al - Futtaim Toyota special stages. Competitors are due back at the service park in Dubai Festival City from 12:50pm. Mahir Badri, Chief Executive Emirates Motorsport Organization (EMSO), welcomed competitors and spectators to the event: “When we have started to do the preparation of Dubai Baja, we had one goal - how to make this rally an exceptional version, and to create memories for our competitors, spectators and our partners. And I remember when the team came up with the idea to stage a super special stage inside the city and at night, my first reaction was – impossible. But a few minutes of recalculation – and knowing how much we are privileged with the support of the Dubai Government along with our strategic partner Al Futtaim Group through Al Futtaim Automotive (Toyota) and Festival Mall. As well as that we were able to call on the Dubai Police and Dubai Sport Council for their amazing and unconditional support.” Mahir Bahri was joined on stage by Jacques Brent, Managing Director Managing Director Toyota & Lexus: “It’s a great opportunity for us to give a little bit back to our customers who have gone out and bought Toyotas and especially in a great facility like this, Festival City and Al-Futtaim Property and an opportunity to showcase the broader Al-Futtaim brand. We’re very proud to be part of the Dubai International Baja and obviously it helps to reinforce the overall message around Toyota and motorsport and what we do for the community.” Also present at the presentation and representing the government agencies which have made the event possible were Yousuf Alraeesi Director of Government and Consumer Relations, H.E. Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Authorities, Installations and Emergency Security and Chairman of the Events Committee and Ali Omar Al Balushi, Director of Sports Events Department at Dubai Sports Council. In cooperation with Automotive partner Al Futtaim Toyota, Dubai Festival City, Energy Partner ENOC, and Al Ain Water. With activations across the UAE, KSA, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Libya the campaign boldly states: ‘THEY try to silence our voice. YOU seek out the truth. It aims to re-energize the conversation around RT’s core editorial principle “Question More” and amplify the importance of having access to news as the right of all. “Access to news is the right of all. This principle is what lies at the heart of the RT Arabic 2023 campaign. We want our audience to know that no matter what, RT Arabic will keep working for you,” commented RT Arabic Editor-in-Chief, Maya Manna. “Over the years mainstream western voices sought to shut-down RT’s access to platforms, and shut us out of conversations, including on social media and TV broadcasting platforms in Arabic. In doing so, they are not just trying to silence us, they are infringing upon our viewers’ and readers’ right of access to information,” she continued. RT journalists work tirelessly to bring audiences breaking news, vital stories and local and global voices alike, 24 hours a day. RT Arabic covers pressing regional and world events from an alternative point of view and through this new campaign it hopes that audiences will feel inspired to join the conversation, seek out the truth, and continue to question more. The event takes place on 18 November at Dubai Science Park, with participants invited to walk, jog, or run a 3.5km route. Organised by TECOM Group PJSC in partnership with Dubai Autism Centre (DAC), all proceeds from the WeWalk 2023 walkathon will be donated in support of DAC's mission to empower children with autism through education and therapeutic interventions. Tickets are now available for purchase from WeWalk.ae, where family-friendly activities and entertainment will contribute to a memorable community experience for all attendees. Haif Zamzam, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at TECOM Group, said: “TECOM Group is founded on the premise of building and enabling communities. This commitment is evident across its 10 business districts and extends with equal enthusiasm to WeWalk, which has become an instrumental part of our Group’s efforts to uplift and unify society by bringing together individuals from all communities to deliver lasting, positive change. Through our partnership with Dubai Autism Centre this year, we will raise awareness and funds to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global leading centre for the education and treatment of people with autism.” WeWalk aims to inspire responsible community practices and build a happy society for all. Previous editions of the walkathon have attracted more than 4,500 participants to the Group’s business districts, including Dubai Science Park, Dubai Knowledge Park, and Dubai Design District (d3). Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects an estimated 1 in every 36 children, according to the latest statistics from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. Characteristics of autism can be detected in early childhood, though many cases may be undiagnosed until much later due to the varying degrees of abilities and needs of people with autism. In 2022, the Ministry of Community Development registered over 4,500 cases of autism in the UAE, with males constituting 80% of the total cases registered. The DAC was established in 2001 by a decree of the Ruler of Dubai as the first Emirati non-profit organisation that aims to provide integrated consulting, educational, and specialised therapeutic services in the field of ASD. As per Decree No. 26 of 2021, one of DAC’s main objectives is to contribute to making Dubai a globally leading hub in the field of providing approved special education programmes and specialised rehabilitative treatment services for people diagnosed with ASD. By fostering a spirit of generosity, WeWalk aims to support local organisations, such as DAC and in previous editions the UAE Rare Disease Society and Al Jalila Foundation, that play a vital role in shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for the community. The 2022 edition of WeWalk, held at Dubai Science Park, raised more than AED 700,000 in donations for the UAE Rare Disease Society. Dubai Science Park and the UAE Rare Disease Society dedicated part of the raised donations through the initiative's charity partner, Beit Al Khair Society, to develop awareness programmes to help shorten the diagnosis journey of patients, create a database of rare diseases, and enhance access to specialists, diagnostics, and treatments. WeWalk 2023 is supported by Dubai Sports Council and the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department; Telecom Partner du; Gold Partners BeiGene, Al Ain Water, and Skechers; Media Partners Khaleej Times and Channel 4; Emerald Partners Mediclinic, Biologix, and Medtronic; and Medical Support Partner, Response Plus Medical. • Aldenham Education Group announces its newest school in Saudi Arabia in partnership with KAFD

I Prestigious new international school in King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) located in the heart of Riyadh. Aldenham Education Group (AEG) is to build a new K-12 school campus in King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) for children aged 3-18 years old. © KAFD The announcement follows extensive discussions and due diligence between AEG and King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), resulting in the signing of a Letter of Intent between the two companies expressing their full agreement to build a new, world class international school in this vibrant district of Riyadh. KAFD DMC chose AEG to develop the only school to reside in the world-renowned business district due to Aldenham’s exceptional heritage, its unique all-round and forward-thinking approach, and its synergy with Vision 2030’s ambition to raise the quality of education, transform youth mindsets, and strengthen the economy. The signing heralds the start of the first stage of design and construction for the new AEG school to be named Aldenham Riyadh. It is anticipated that Aldenham Riyadh will be completed to accept students for the academic year beginning Autumn 2026. The school will be truly iconic: employing cutting edge design that marries the education of tomorrow aptly with Aldenham’s 425-year history as a pioneer of progressive, all-round, and holistic education which has continued until today. Aldenham Riyadh is uncommonly positioned as a genuine branch campus of a notable UK independent school not only in KSA but also among other schools in the wider GCC region. This is a direct result of AEG’s proprietary owner-operated model which ensures that all students receive continuity of experience, curriculum and academic standards straight from the mother school in the UK. This innovative model starts by infusing Aldenham’s culture by sending the existing Heads of its UK schools to act as the founding principals of the newly established campuses oversees. It continues by having the UK education team actively implement and adapt their UK curriculum in each new school. Finally, it is manifested by having its UK academic team involved in every interview of all pupils and teachers. These are just a few distinguishing examples of AEG’s unique methodology. The very first Aldenham school was established in 1597 in North London during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The school’s centuries-long pursuit of academic excellence, embodying the best of timeless traditions, universal values, and a forward-thinking culture, has always differentiated it from its peers. Now, over four hundred years later, Aldenham retains those early values with an approach that views education as a continual, lifelong pursuit and journey of personal growth, extending far beyond the attainment of degrees. The new school will be AEG’s second school in Riyadh: Aldenham Prep Riyadh opened in 2022. AEG has chosen KAFD, the largest Platinum LEED-certified mixed-use business district globally, to be its second home. Set right at the heart of the Saudi capital, KAFD is an attractive destination for local and expatriate families and parents who will welcome the high-quality education that Aldenham Riyadh will be well equipped to provide. The school will also make a significant and positive contribution to the district’s residential, business and social communities. Welcoming Aldenham Riyadh to KAFD, Gautam Sashittal, CEO of KAFD DMC, commented: “Widespread and quality education is the foundation of all societal growth and prosperity. Fulfilling the educational transformation objectives of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia invests heavily in the sector, having committed approximately 20% of the national budget in 2022 to education. We're absolutely thrilled to play a role in this and to welcome Aldenham Riyadh which will bring premium international education to local and international communities in KAFD.” The Kingdom is currently embarking on an ambitious reform agenda with Riyadh positioned to become one of the world’s most competitive and livable cities by 2030, putting education at the center stage of its Vision 2030. Acknowledging this, Shahram Hashemi, Managing Partner, Aldenham Education Group, said: “We are honored to be part of KAFD and the PIF family and look forward to building on this valued relationship through the provision of a world-beating education for current and future generations and helping make Vision 2030 a reality. We are proud of the nation’s tremendous growth and are delighted to be able to play a part in this and helping create a sustainable future. Alec Nejad, Managing Partner, Aldenham Education Group, concluded: “We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both the Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) and the Ministry of Investment (MISA) for inviting us one of the first educational institutions vetted to collaborate in the enlightened reform programs in the K-12 sector. Aldenham Education Group believes deeply that we have a responsibility to not only operate our own schools at the highest possible standards but to also be leading partners with RCRC, MISA, Ministry of Education as well as the private sector in the overall growth of the educational provision in the Kingdom.” Situated in Riyadh, KAFD is an iconic business and lifestyle destination with state-of-the-art physical and digital infrastructure. The destination is owned and managed by King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), which was established in 2018 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KAFD’s 95 buildings, designed by 25 world-leading architectural firms, have reshaped the skyline of Riyadh. The vibrant mixed-use district offers a range of experiences across its area of 1.6 million square meters and is the largest development globally to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest accreditation from the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council), which recognizes KAFD as a global leader in sustainability.
