- Imane Ayissi presents sustainable luxury Couture Collection FW 23-24
HAUTE COUTURE Imane Ayissi Autumn/Winter 2023–2024 couture collection presented on July 7, 2023 explores the power of art. Art influence may also be noticed again in the regal drapery that the designer matches with his distinctive color scheme. Titled 'Mguilguidigueu-Mteun' the starting point for this collection was the discovery of works by the painter Paul Chmaroff in the Thierry Schneider collection, which contains several hundred of his works. "I knew absolutely nothing about this painter, who comes from a culture (Russian) far from my own culture and difficult for me to classify in a known artistic movement, but yet I was immediately able to appreciate the beauty of this painting." said designer. Couture Fall Winter 2023/24 collection From this, the reflection on the fact that the search for beauty spans cultural differences, that it is, on the contrary, what binds all members of humanity, and that everywhere in the world, the starting point of a graphic work is always a set of lines and curves, a line and a circle (Mguilguidigueu-Mteun in the Ewondo language of Cameroon) and any creator can recognise themselves in the work of another creator. The gentlest touches of silver and gold are elegantly incorporated to echoing the work of Paul Chmaroff, this collection is above all a pure search for lines, shapes, volumes, movements, colors and textures. "But no aesthetic research today can do without questioning its environmental impact, which is both a constraint, limitation on creativity, and at the same time an incentive to be more creative with these constraints. Hence the decision to use mainly natural fibers in this collection, including linen, undoubtedly the most ecological fiber, in combination with silk, or bamboo viscose, which has a low ecological impact and is biodegradable, and embroideries made from fabric scraps. "As always, I also used fibres and textiles that are characteristic of the African continent: raffia, Obom (tapped tree bark), “bazin teinté”, Kenté. - RAMI KADI Couture Fall Winter 2023/24 - "Film Noir"
HAUTE COUTURE RAMI KADI Couture Fall Winter 2023/24 - "Film Noir" "I wanted to breathe life into this fascination of mine and of so many other artists, I’m sure Film Noir is a tribute to the era's irreplaceable charm. It’s the blurring of the lines that separate us from this bygone era." - - Rami Kadi Words: N. Ahmet Rami Kadi continues to present his Haute Couture collections in new and refreshing ways. After his past collections, like the Couture Spring-Summer 2022, which merged the boundaries between the physical and the digital, Kadi has always been keen on adapting to new technologies to convey the couture to clients and has been pioneering several innovations, like being the first designer to introduce a cyber fashion show before COVID-19. With his new collection, Rami Kadi invites us all further into a world of unimaginable beauty, showcasing 31 gowns sparkling the glamour of film noir actresses. The Fall/Winter 23-24 couture collection by Rami Kadi Maison de Couture explores the tenacious nature of life Film Noir, as models draped in couture masterpieces glide under a spotlight that chases their every move. Adding an element of nostalgia, screens flanking the runway reveal behind-the-scenes footage from the atelier, coupled with subtle sounds of fabric being cut, embroidered, and sewn–a symphony of craftsmanship that echoes the painstaking creation of each gown. The immersive runway show was launched live on Instagram on July 6, 2023, marking the debut of Maison Rami Kadi’s Film Noir. “Instagram allows us to reach our audience directly, to bring the mystique and charm of our collection into their lives, wherever they may be. Just as Hollywood was the epicenter of allure and style in the noir era, Instagram is now the stage where the modern spectacle of fashion plays out," stated Rami Kadi. Figure-hugging dresses emphasize the feminine form with strong shoulders and nipped-in waists. Carefully chosen Pantone colors imbue the collection with a sense of elegance and sophistication. Pink Tint, Shifting Sand, and Silver Peony are among the colors that complement the collection's overall aesthetic and highlight its timeless appeal. The belle of the ball and star of the show is the crystal-embroidered bridal dress. Bathed in the warm spotlight of glamour and adorned with an air of timeless class, this dress embodies the spirit of this nostalgic era while exuding modern sophistication. Crystals hang from the delicate gloves like droplets of dew, creating an iridescent display that mirrors the elegance of the era. A sea of Swarovski pieces forms a radiant headpiece, creating rays that shine outward, much like the bride herself, who is the epicenter of this show-stopping ensemble. This journey through time culminates in a grand unveiling that captures the essence of Hollywood glam. Like a monochrome film reel springing to life, the collection makes its debut on a fully black, rain-lit stage. The stark contrasts of the runway mimic the chiaroscuro lightplay characteristic of film noir, as models draped in couture masterpieces glide under a spotlight that chases their every move. Adding an element of nostalgia, screens flanking the runway reveal behind-the-scenes footage from the atelier, coupled with subtle sounds of fabric being cut, embroidered, and sewn—a symphony of craftsmanship that echoes the painstaking creation of each gown. - Schiaparelli Fall 2023/2024 Haute Couture
HAUTE COUTURE Daniel Roseberry, as Artistic Director at Maison Schiaparelli, masters the surrealist expression that the founder proposed almost 100 years ago when the Maison was founded in Paris. The dramatic Fall 2023 Couture presentation was moved from its intimate salons at 21, Place Vendôme, to a bigger stage in the city, which seems appropriate now for a brand that is worn by some of the world's biggest artists at the world's greatest stages. The Fall 2023 couture show’s grandiosity is not just felt in the venue but in the exaggerated executed coats, collars, and humor, but in a good way. Clearly, the designer had a lot of fun creating this collection, as did models wearing it, unable to hide a smile as they walked calmly down the catwalk. A collection largely kept in black and white adorned with golden details seems more mature than ever, yet don’t expect to find nun-like discipline in cuts like the couture style that Elsa Schiaparelli’s contemporary Coco Chanel was famous for. © Schiaparelli.com. Roseberry's approach is the opposite, exploring the concepts of fluidity and movement. Made for a woman who lives passionately and wears her heart on her sleeve, as symbolically depicted by the indigo painted model, where an asymmetrical indigo blue skirt is the only garment on the model, as a big heart-shaped leaf barely covers the indigo painted breast, it reminds me of a look from the fall 2022 couture, where the model's breast is adorned with a finely crafted red lacquered anatomical heart pendant with rhinestones, held by a thin necklace, Schiaparelli.com. - Gaurav Gupta Haute Couture 2023/2024
HAUTE COUTURE © Gaurav Gupta Gaurav Gupta, the renowned Indian fashion designer and artist, debuted in Paris earlier this year during Paris Haute Couture Week with a show that was perfectly timed for Indian Republic Day on January 26. His second couture presentation this July—attended by Cardi B and Fan BingBing seated in the front row—is a well-deserved way to cap Paris' most opulent and renowned fashion week, where only a few carefully chosen names are on the official schedule. India is prominently featured in his second, again very conceptual, collection, with fluidity and surreal silhouettes that convey story and interpret the original concept of the collection. The surrealist concepts that the designer explores are primarily influenced by Indian history and a rich culture. The degree of thought and research put into each model is stunning. As the models pass by, the shapes and sparkle from their dresses gives audience goosebumps. Almost no part of the outfit is left unembellished, the atelier workers are clearly busy just as Gupta's mind. Sometimes dresses are adorned with sparkly sequins, sometimes with pearls hanging as drops from the outfit. Every detail and cut tells a story. In his debut couture show in Paris, he expertly explained the notion of infinity and his passion for the ancient Egyptian civilizations; fusing conventional construction and decorating techniques with his vision of the future. This time again, Gupta returns for inspiration in ancient Hindu texts known as the Vedas, exploring the concept of Hiranyagarbha; Hiranya meaning golden and garbha meaning the womb. It’s from this version of the creation story that comes inspiration for an ultra-futuristic and cosmic collection that is made for lucky stars that can wear it. Let's be honest, not even his black dresses are typical Chanel little black dress, it takes a special woman to wear his creations. The fall 2023 collection interprets the state of floating through a very narrow color palette of black and white, dusty grey, yellows, olive green, and Malachite green, which was originally a mineral pigment used in ancient Egypt to develop green paint and was popular until the 19th century. Today, this natural form of green pigment has been replaced by its synthetic form, verditer, among other synthetic greens. We would love to see Cardi B or actress BingBing in any of these designs. - Paris fashion week: AELIS couture F/W 2023-2024
Sofia Crociani, creator of AELIS, and Christine Neumeister, director of the Paris Opera's costume department, collaborated to give birth to a piece of art-to wear couture that was presented during the couture show in July. Underground Flora - Actions are driven by passion and are related to creativity and sensitivity Collection FW 2023/24 Inspired by the elegance and grace of the ballet, AELIS has established a unique partnership with the Paris Opera to create a dress-sculpture from vintage tutus, made in the prestigious atelier of the Opera. "We are honored to start this collaboration with the Paris Opera which was born from the friendship with Christine Neumester. It's an extraordinary opportunity to showcase our commitment to eco-sustainable fashion while celebrating the art and history of dance. - Sofia Crociani, creator of AELIS Couture In the early spring, Sofia comes across a little white blossom in the form of a feathery ball while exploring the uneven stones of the Louvre's cour carré in Paris. The splendor of the nearby structures is challenged by her elegance and vulnerability. These extraordinary seeds, capable of dancing and being carried by the wind for hundreds and miles, are the start of the voyage of the new season of AELIS. Suddenly, the breath of the wind disintegrates it into a million of feather-light seeds that begin to fly between heaven and earth. ©AELIS The traditional tutu form that resembles a dandelion blossom inspires the collection. Sofia is able to reclaim a few historic tutus that the head of the costume department, Cristine Neumeister, has made accessible to her through the relationship with the Opera de Paris. Thus, an upcycling work was made in which the "tutus plateau" was combined into a single sculptural and fleeting object, preserving the significance and force of the experience that inhabited those shapes. The focal focus of the collection's study as well as its evocative power is thus the emotional power of a dress that contains the history of the bodies and the ingredients that make up it. On the magnesium cones, black lacquer alternates with diamond lines, their sizes perfectly selected to create a subtle play of light and scales. Resin-colored cones displaying their modernity with extreme delicacy. Nonchalance feigned by a hand slipped into a High Jewelry pocket, adaptable to be worn on any garment. The final touch to this picture is a bracelet, shaped as a perfect sphere. Who said that a parure should be composed of a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet? In the Pocket makes light of conventions. It creates an attitude and a succession of emotions, drawn from the discovery of the richness of its pieces – enhanced by the preciousness of their nonconformism. A TECHNICALCHALLENGE Slipping one’s adorned hand in a precious pocket and giving metal the suppleness of cloth: this may have been one of the greatest challenges posed to the ateliers. The 3D printed titanium elements of this precious pocket are mounted on stretch fabric. From the back of the wearer’s garment, a magnet fits the structure: secretly fixing this incredible jewel, which delicately blends with the cloth. Multiwear, which is dear to Maison Boucheron, is celebrated here through a tsavorite and black lacquer sphere. A true objet d’art, turning into a cuff bracelet and two rings when the sphere is dismantled: making it a spectacular four-in-one creation, celebrating savoir-faire and creativity. Titanium was chosen to constitute the structure of the sphere: it was anodized to ensure the most precise color treatment. - THE DIOR AUTUMN-WINTER 2023-2024 READY-TO-WEAR SHOW IN SHENZHEN
THE DIOR AUTUMN-WINTER 2023-2024 READY-TO-WEAR SHOW IN SHENZHEN DIOR SHENZHEN RTW AW23 GROUPSHOT © WANG ZIQIAN For Maria Grazia Chiuri, every collection is an opportunity to reflect on the role and essence of clothing in its relationship to the body and to fashion. The re-reading of the 1950s – at the heart of this Dior Autumn-Winter 2023-2024 ready-to-wear line – is also a means for the Creative Director to explore the history of Dior, each time in a totally new way, and to delve deeper into French style around three extraordinary personalities: Catherine Dior, Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco. The floral motifs chosen by Monsieur Dior have been reinterpreted: the texture of the mottled fabric is interwoven with a metallic thread that makes the material seem alive, malleable even, and erases the contours, obtaining an abstract effect. Primary colors take center stage: ruby, emerald, topaz yellow and blue. Delicate shades of tartan dress the coats, jackets and straight skirts. The embroidery composes small bursts of light. Celebrating the kaleidoscopic image of femininity drawn by powerful icons, inhabited by conscience, these creations – presented at the Sea World Culture and Arts Center of Shenzhen, during a bewitching show – suggest emotional paths to the new generations of women who are shaping our future. The Swiss team's performance was exceptional on the final days of prestigious Falsterbo Horse Show With packed stands, glorious sunshine, and nine incredible days of competition behind us, it was finally time for one of the highlights of Falsterbo Horse Show: the Longines Falsterbo Grand Prix. 50 international riders took on the Grand Prix course, featuring obstacles towering at 1.60 meters. The competition was decided over two rounds, with 13 pairs advancing to the thrilling "winning round." The bar was set high, requiring both speed and flawless performance to progress. After a blazingly fast second round, Swiss rider Martin Fuchs and Conner Jei emerged victorious with a time of 45.70 seconds, nearly two seconds ahead of second-placed Willem Greve from the Netherlands, who, together with Highway M TN, crossed the finish line in 47.95 seconds. Italy's Emanuele Camilli and Odense Odeveld claimed the third spot with a time of 48.68 seconds. Martin Fuchs expressed his joy and satisfaction with the day's outcome. The pair had also competed in the Nations Cup earlier in the week, where Switzerland finished at the top of the podium. Fuchs wanted to assess his horse's performance in this format, with several major competitions held closely together. The result? Based on feelings and result, he was extremely pleased; – It was an incredible feeling. I haven't been here in a while, but I want to come back as soon as I get the chance. It has been a great week, and the jump-off today was exhilarating. My horse jumps phenomenally and is extremely careful.
